National Volunteer Week is the annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our volunteers. It is the opportunity for organisations and communities to thank the people that give the most precious gift of all, their time. “Our volunteers are among the most capable, committed and compassionate people I’ve had the privilege to meet and work with. They walk in our doors everyday and give their time freely to others, nothing is ever too difficult. Their generous contribution is making a real difference to the lives of children, young people and families every day. They are highly valued and important members of our team and I can’t thank them enough for choosing us as their volunteering destination.” Said David Boutkan our Executive Director. Volunteers have a diverse impact on our communities and the organisations they choose to give their time to. They bring enthusiasm, skills and experience, friendship, connection to community, vision for social impact, leadership and inspiration. And what volunteers give selflessly is their time. This week we are taking a little time to thank all the volunteers that have so generously contributed their precious time to supporting our work at The Family Centre. Even though the last few months have had their challenges, looking back over the year the voluntary contribution has been invaluable. Volunteers have supported families in our programS, provided reception and administration services, supported community events and fundraising, provided childminding and course delivery support, facilitated school-based groups, made many food hampers and helped with research and program development. In the past year The Family Centre had over 100 volunteers, each bringing their own unique skills and talents to contribute. A big thank you also goes to our volunteer board member, who take on the very important role of leading our organisation and setting our strategic direction. Whether big ripples or little ripples, every task and contribution volunteers make help to change communities and make a positive impact on the lives of those we support. |
