The Family Centre run Circle of Security Parenting courses and seminars each term across the Tweed, Ballina or Byron shires.
As parents at times you can feel lost or without a clue about what your child might need from you. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child was really asking from you. The Circle of Security Parenting course can you help you understand your child’s emotional needs, support their ability to handle emotions and enhance the development of your child’s self-esteem.
Judith is a ‘Grand-carer’ who has permanent care for her 5 grandchildren ages 12, 11, 8, 6 and 5. Judith recently completed the Circle of Security Parenting course in Ballina. Judith wanted to share her experience and spread the word to other Grand-carers that may be struggling with their parenting roles:
“What I have gotten out of the course is that I found that I am now standing back and trying to realise what is happening with the child as well as myself. There is always so much going on at once in our home that it is really hard to stand back … This course has taught me how to do that. I would recommend this course, Grandparents should come and have a go at this… It’s way different bringing up children now than when we were little. This course has really broadened my thinking about not only what my needs are but what my grandchildren need from me. The motto of Circle Security is that every day we are given opportunities to change our world, one Bigger, Stronger, Wiser, and Kind
moment at a time."
Judith’s husband is now planning on attending the male carers Circle of Security Parenting Course being run at Lennox Head in October.
