The Family Centre delivers a range of services for children, young people and families across the Byron, Ballina and Tweed shires that build and enhance relationships and parenting skills. See “What We Do”.
Volunteering for TFC is a great way to use your skills and experience for social good! And, It’s also good for you – you’ll meet interesting people, make new friends, learn new skills, advance your career and even improve your health!
We are looking for volunteers who share our vision and values and want to be a part of a trusted local organisation with a focus on creating strong connections with our community and driving progressive social change.
Our volunteers help to contribute to our organisation in a number of ways, depending on their skills, availability and personal interests. Some examples include:
You can be involved in just one, or many, activities. We also actively seek to create new ways to utilise your skills and expertise for the benefit of people who use our services and the community.
The Family Centre also has an active Volunteer Leadership Group, which meets monthly to support volunteers and discuss ways in which volunteers can innovatively build capacity in our organisation and the community.

All prospective volunteers will be required to undergo reference checks, a Working with Children Check and a National Police Check.
You can apply for a Working with Children Check immediately by completing the form through the following link:
Please remember to take your application number and ID to your nearest Road Transport Authority to verify your ID, and then take your application number to your appointment at The Family Centre.
We will also require a National Police Check. We can obtain this on your behalf with your permission and 100 points of ID before commencement in a volunteer role.
